Biographical History
Lillian Griswold was born Lillian Long on July 27, 1902. She married Emery A. Griswold and lived in
Independence, Missouri. The Griswold family had lived on Forest Avenue since the early 1900s. Emery
bought the house at 420 in 1938. Lillian’s written history “Forest Avenue, Independence, Missouri” is
undated but was recorded before her death on November 1, 1996. She lived at 420 Forest Avenue from
1938 until her death.
Nancy Jean Rellihan is related to Lillian Griswold through her grandmother Joy Griswold Myers. Joy was
Emery Griswold’s sister. Nancy was born on March 8, 1955 in Independence, Missouri and currently
resides in the city.
