Biographical History
Johnson Bickerstaff was born in Tennessee in 1806. His wife, Harriet Lane, were born in Georgia in 1803.
The Bickerstaff family settled in Alabama Territory in the early 1800s, eventually settling in Monroe
County.
Scope and Content
The family record sheets located in the middle of the Bible contain four pages of family records with
name, place of birth, date of birth, date of marriage, and date of death for family members listed. The
information is written with various handwritings. The names listed in the record pages list the
descendants of J.J. Bickerstaff and Harriet Lane and include the family names Bickerstaff, Lane, Evans,
Mason, Marks, Grizzle, and Chism. Overall the Bible is in poor condition with the binding broken and
some Bible pages missing, but the family record sheets are intact.
