Biographical History
The Antle Cemetery is located east of St. Joseph in Buchanan County, Missouri. Reverend Everhart
married Nisse Belk in Russell County, Kentucky in 1828. By 1840, the family was living in Buchanan
County. Everhart, Nisse, and their son, John, are buried in the cemetery. To find Antle Cemetery, take
Highway 36 east to Highway AB and then head about .4 of a mile to County Road 90 and then west .3
miles to an access road. The cemetery is located in a stand of trees in the field. The rows in the cemetery
run north to south. Many of the headstone have been damaged or overturned.
Scope and Content
The collection consists headstone photographs taken by Bethel 29, Independence International Order of
Job’s Daughters (Independence, MO) in 1992. The photographs are in color and a typed transcription of
the information from the headstone is included. The photos are arranged by row and includes an index.
The oldest date found on a headstone is from 1843 and the most recent date is from 1903. Family
names inlucde Antle, Karns/Kerns, Kelley, Miller, and Schweedler.
