Biographical History
Louise Estella “Stella” Strickler was born November 17, 1882 in Linn County, Missouri to Wilson and
Mary Newsom Strickler. She married Lloyd Seldon Tharp in Meadville, Missouri on April 29, 1903.
Together they had five children; one daughter and four sons. Stella was very involved with genealogy
and enjoyed gathering the information to document her and her husband’s families. On June 20, 1958,
Stella, her husband Lloyd, and her son Harold were killed in a car accident in Phillipsburg, Kansas. All
three were buried in Meadville, Missouri at the Meadville Cemetery.
Scope and Content
This collection contains the genealogical research done by Stella Strickler Tharp. Stella focused on her
maternal and paternal lines as well as her husband’s maternal and paternal lines. These surnames
include Botts, Newson, Strickler, and Tharp. Each surname has family history and genealogy research in
addition to photographs, ephemera, and vital record information. There is also biographical information
complied by the donor as well as a photograph album for the Strickler family.
