Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
Jan [January] 5, 1952 [1953]
Mon [Monday] Morn [morning] 8:45
AM
Hi “Honey”
While I am not to busy I spect [expect] I better report in for another wk [week]. I am in a bad
mood and this is blue Monday still I recon [sic] I can scribe a couple of pages after getting your sweet
letter last wk [week]. We haven’t had a darn thing to do here in packing & crating for quite some time
one of these days we will probally [sic] be rushed to death.
I made it through New Years [sic] okay this is one year I was looking for as it is the one I am
supposed to get released from the Army. The nearer it gets the more I want to be at home again believe
me I can hardly wait. Well our league finally got under way last Fri [Friday] nite we were lucky and won
all 3 games I didn’t quite hit 200 but came real [page 2] close 199 the other 2 games were 164 – 173.
Went bowling again Sat [Saturday] eve [evening] didn’t do very good although I hit 187 one game. I had
intended to go see Don and Bill but no one got a wk [week] end pass as too many guys are on furlough. I
took in a show Sat [Saturday] and Sun [Sunday] nite here it is Mon [Monday]. I recon [sic] that about
ketches [catches] me up on what I have been doing. This afternoon I hope to get my wart cut off I have
had a[n] appointment for about 2 weeks. I notice you got 2 pairs of scales for Xmas still you didn’t
happen to mention what you weigh I am sorta curious so’s [sic] to speak. By the way I didn’t state that I
didn’t love you if you were fat. I just would rather you wasn’t. You know I like to read your letters when
you get all riled up it tickles me in fact I used to make you mad just to get to hear you chew me out. I
don’t [page 3] remember saying the german girls thought I was handsome if I did it was only kidding as I
have no way of knowing what they think. So it was my fault that I didn’t love you more often? Well I
know it and I don’t think you are awful. I sure don’t think I am as cold natured as I used to be so you
better be careful when I come home. My dear Wife I would think you have grown up enough to not still
want dolls or toys what in the world good are they to you. So Francis is quite the Mother huh? Well I
am not Francis so don’t expect me to do as he does. By the way how is our Son making it? he looks
pretty good to me in the face but his body sure looks odd. Angel not that I think you will any how but
just to make sure I will tell you again. No matter how much I drink [page 4] you can forget about
smoking the minute I come home that is strictly out believe me I am not joking either. What do you
think of the music the clock makes? I expect you will get tired of hearing it and the cuckoo to before you
ever get used to it. I don’t know were [where] we are going to live but if it is someplace were dogs are
allowed I think it would be nice to have one. Well Hon [honey] I am out of news so will close this letter.
I hope all are okay and tell all hello for me.
All My Love
Jr Tinder
I haven’t heard from Doris yet, and I cain’t see why Pauline wants to get pregnant.
P.S. Sure was bad about Hank Williams wasn’t it. I was beginning to like his singing pretty good although
I believe Hank Thompson has taken Erenest’s [Ernest’s] place as my favorite.
P.S.S. I am much lonesome for you as usual.
I love you (I think)
Got a letter from you today I think the picture is real good of Calvin.
