Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
28 July 1952
Hi “Aggie”
I feel mighty lazy but after you raking me over the coals I better scribe you a page or so. I don’t
remember but I think I wrote you a letter last wk [week] and every wk [week] far as I know. What is this
you say about me being a drunkard? just because I get a little tipsy 2 or 3 times doesn’t mean I am that
bad. As for the Dear “Jane” letter I wouldn’t want one of these German women so you can quit
worrying till I come home. That goes for the divorce also. You know good and well that you can trust
me at least much as I trust you. What did I ever do wrong? Boy I sure had a rough week and weekend
last week glad it is over. Didn’t get to play bingo last Thur [Thursday] either as I was on C.Q. [Charge of
Quarters] plus my pass had never came back [page 2] from last Sat [Saturday] nite. I saw the Capt
[Captain] Fri [Friday] he gave me a weekend restriction all in all it amounted to 8 days for 25 min
[minutes] so I won’t do that to often. Fri [Friday] nite we had a[n] Alert I drove all over B.K. with a Lt
[Lieutenant] and Major plus the extra driving I did for the Lt [Lieutenant] sure was tired when I hit the
sack. Sat [Saturday] we fired on the range got up at 4:15 and finished at 7 PM boy am I glad that is over.
I stayed in the Billets the rest of the weekend. Today we started getting up at 5:15 now we have to take
30 min of P.T. [Physical Training]again won’t be long till we can just stay up all night. Tomorrow I have
K.P. [Kitchen Patrol] for my last time I hope I think German KP’s [Kitchen Patrols] start the first of the
month. It is real easy over here but I still don’t like it. Thur [Thursday] is payday which is good I am
looking forward to my leave I got the [page 3] papers signed by my section chief this morn [morning].
Here I am back from dinner this morning really flew by I was writing away when Volpe said “let’s go eat”
sure supprised [surprised] me. I am supposed to get practice with Smokey and the Boys tonight don’t
know whether I will get around to it or not I sure would like to get Smokey to teach me a little. He is
really good with that thing. From the sound of the paper it must be a little warm there again, it is still
cool here this morn [morning] it rained a little and now I notice the sun just came out. Mon [Monday]
Nite
Got 2 letters 1 card from you today glad to hear you are still feeling okay even if you are a little
overweight. No I wouldn’t let you burn if there were 6 little Jr’s I would sure make you if you would let
me as I have been burning for 6 months. Well tell all hello for me, take care of yourself as I do love you
even when you were fat. Jr Tinder
