Mon [Monday] Morn [morning] 8:30
Hi “Old Woman”
I am terrible busy today putting in my time but still I am going to answer your last 4 letters, isn’t
that sweet of me? Of course I am just naturally sweet you said so yourself.
You were wondering about the letter were [where] you chewed me out so bad? Well I liked it
better than any I have got for a long time. It tickles me when you give me hell for something. (Not that I
ever do anything wrong) No I wasn’t thinking of Carl Willks [sic] when I sent the name. There is a boy in
the outfit whose name is Carlton I only took the ton off. I don’t care much for the name myself. Just to
be truthful I don’t care what you name the brat. As for Gene Wilks I won’t admit or denie [sic] anything
you can draw your own conclusions as you would [page 2] anyway. At least I am glad to hear you are
jealous of your Husband. I know I wouldn’t be able to do much with you before long but providing I
were home I thought you might let me step out once in a while?? You didn’t need to tell me you loved
me anyhow I will just guess. I doubt it you have much room to talk I saw on 1 of your letters were
[where] you have been entertaining I recon [sic] I can’t expect you to go 18 months I know how it is
myself after you get used to it. I did not say you were dull and drab laying all kidding aside I think you
are wonderful to put up with me. I sure do love to tease you so please forgive me if you can. I don’t
care what you do with your money only don’t buy any finiture [furniture] till I get back. So help me God
I haven’t done a thing wrong since [page 3] I have left home so you don’t need to worry. I thought the
new envelopes were sort of nice. I didn’t get to play bingo last wk [week]as I played ball 3 straight
nights won 9-7 – 11-9 lost 8-7 we have a pretty good team now. I see that no one won the big pots
guess I will have to win it Thur [Thursday] it is now $500 $200. Boy Smoky can really pick a Guitar sure
wish I could play one better than I do instead of practicing I play the same old songs never will learn
anything that way. I suppose I filed up Sat [Saturday] nite went to a party and stayed out 25 minutes to
late haven’t saw the old man yet. Got my pass pulled at the gate I doubt if he does much. Went to the
show early Sat [Saturday] then heard Smoky and the gang play at the beer hall for awhile [sic] went to
the club before I got to the party so I had a busy Sat [Saturday]. Yesterday I watched ball for awhile [sic]
then went to the show last night. This Fri [Friday] I will have been in the Army 1 year now I have 1 year
left [page 4] hope it goes as fast as the first one has only I know it won’t. I remember being at Crowder
when you all came to visit me quite well, remember what happened that eve [evening] I would like to do
that again sometime okay with you. It was daylight to I thought I might have to beat your head in. I
should of known you couldn’t resist my affections. Ha ha. I am counting big on my trip if it goes off
good I may go again in Sept [September]. I found out I have been put in for Cpl [Corporal] only rank has
been froze since March sure would like to have the money only trouble is I understand you would get
most of it. Tell all hello for me take care of yourself because I want a sweet loving little wife when I get
home.
Love now and for always
A Lonesome
G.I.
