Biographical History
Isaac H. Pate was born on March 1, 1821 in Tennessee. He married Cynthia Jane Hanna in Ohio County,
Indiana on November 9, 1848. Together Isaac and Cynthia had four children; Wilson, Mary Jane, Sarah
Ann, and Albert. Cynthia died August 22, 1897 and was buried in Dillsboro, Dearborn County, Indiana.
Isaac died in April 1905 and was buried in Dillsboro, Dearborn County, Indiana. Isaac’s daughter Mary
Jane married William Everett Turner on November 10 1869 and they later moved to Nodaway County,
Missouri. Mary Jane inherited the family Bible upon her father’s death.
Mary Effie Proctor Turner was given this bible at the death of Mary Jane Turner, her mother-in-law and
Isaac Pate’s daughter. Mary Effie was born on October 2, 1877 and married Robert Allen Turner June 6,
1900 in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. Together they had six children. Before Mary Effie died in
1941, she passed the Bible to one of her daughters.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of the family Bible for the Isaac H. Pate and Robert Allen Turner families. This
Bible contains family records for births, marriages, and deaths for multiple generations. Also included in
this collection are family unit charts, handwritten genealogy, and a bookmark.
