Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
April 8, 1952
Tue [Tuesday] Eve [evening] 2 PM
7 AM at home
Hi Honey
After getting 4 letters from you today I feel like I should try to answer them even if there isn’t
much to write about. Forgive me for those beastly letters I wrote I was just in one of my bad moods
which is about all the time anymore. Glad to hear your old time piece is ticking when I get rich I will buy
you a new one. Of course I need a drivers license in my work, and if I should pass some poor girl walking
wouldn’t you want me to pick her up? After all it may be a hot day or something like that. It is really a
nice day out I went to Kaiserslautern this morn and the people were really out working. You should see
the cows pulling the farming equipment. Of course some have horses the cows look awful slow to me. I
am anxious for the grapes to get ripe boy they have a lot of vineyards around here mostly on real steep
hillsides. About quitting your job? suits me fine just don’t get to fat and lazy sitting around all the time.
Think how hard your poor Husband is working right now. I will admit I am not making you to good a
living but for the present I cain’t help it. I was kidding about your being lazy it sounds like you did quite
a bit of [page 2] work in one of your letters. Yes it will be nice if you make 21 a week that will keep you
in spending money. So you have decided to trust your Husband? that’s good even if I did have to force
you to say it. To be truthful I want you to be jealous of me that is why I do a lot of things I do. I was
telling the truth about the women not being to thick course if I were single I might run one down. What
makes you think I would be heartbroken if Elvira went out with Calvin? I am sure she will go with
someone so might as well be Tubby. By the way how did it get out that you were expecting so soon? It
is now clear from the Alantic [Atlantic] to the Pacific oceans. I bet ten dollars ¾ of the people think it
happened before we were married. Not that I care but I was wondering how is spread so fast. Tell
James I said I bet that beard growing contest is right up his alley. To bad I am not there to grow one
wouldn’t you like my beard? Yes you said you love me enough times main thing do you mean it? I love
you and miss you much to. It has been just about as long since I have been kissed as you don’t imagine?
I will kiss you many times when I see you again. You might melt in my arms but I would burn up in yours
isn’t that *page 3+ about as bad? I am having the same trouble picking a boys name as you. I just cain’t
think of any I like. Robert sure doesn’t suit me so tell Lucille she is safe far as I am concerned. I never
did tell you how come I picked Janice Marie (Janice because it is pretty)(I picked Marie because they go
together good also named after Aunt Marie and Gene). Now don’t let that turn you against it. I doubt if
I would be as good as the fella in the picture so I will never tackle the job okay with you? You will make
a better mother than I. I’m sorry I let slip in one of the letters and called you a old maid please forgive
me fatty. Ha ha. I bet you didn’t think it was funny but I did. Well Darling I have run out of writing
material-Tell all hello for me. Take good care of yourself and don’t worry about our family I’ll probally
[sic] do it again soon as I get home. When we get 3 kids I won’t have to worry about coming back in the
Army. Boy what fun I am going to have I can hardly wait believe me. If I were with you right now…. I
miss you more than you can imagine.
Much much Love
Jr Tinder

home.
