Tue. [Tuesday] Morn [morning] 9: AM
Dearest Darling Wife
Since you are very important to me and I haven’t written for a few days, I shall take some of my
valuable time at work to write you a letter. You should crown me whenever I see you again because it
looks like (by the time you get this) I have forgotten your birthday. Honest I didn’t even thou [sic] it may
seem so. I tried to find you a card only they do not have them were [where] I am at. Of course since
yesterday was payday I wanted to send you a gift only I couldn’t find anything to suit me, plus no place
to pack it if I did get something. I am really full of excuses aren’t I? So with your birthday coming up I
will just tell you how much I love you once more, hoping I will some day [sic] be able to make you
believe me. I could think of lots of think to do if I were with you right now. It is so boring over here for
me that most of the time I even hate myself. If I wasn’t nuts before I left the States, I can assure you I
will be before I return back home. I didn’t write you this past weekend for I was boiling mad mainly
because I couldn’t think of a darn thing to say. There isn’t any news at all except *page 2+ about myself,
which even that has ran out for I do the same old grind over and over. I haven’t yet but one of these
nights I am going out and get so drunk that I don’t even know my name. At least it would be something
to do. A married man with a conscience doesn’t have any business over here. Few of them seem to
have one thou [sic]. Enough of my moaning don’t you think? I bought me a guitar last night gave 85.50
for it, marks that is it is $21.37 in American money. It is about the same size and just like yours if I
remember right. It may be a littler larger. I think it has a pretty good tone. I will be able to pass a lot of
time messing around with it. Not that I well learn anything as I am to thickheaded. How have you been
feeling? good I hope. Tell all hello for me. Boy I sure bragged to quick about the weather as it has really
turned. Winter over here. Lots of snow, rain and it has been pretty chilly. How is the spring weather
back at home. I am not starting to school till May now. I misspelled the place in my last letter it is
Murnau [Murnau, Germany], sounds real exciting huh? (but not really). Well I am about out of writing
materials so will close for now.

Hello Again Angel
I got a sweet letter from you today although you are still a much to suspicious wife. I love you
for it I am glad to have someone who is jealous of me. Or maybe I should say jealous of part of me. I am
sorry to hear that you won’t let me help to rebuild Germanys population but I suppose there is nothing I
can do about it for I sure don’t want to get shot by my wife. So you like the method of getting little
Juniors but not the Juniors? Were [where] there is smoke there is fire my Dear. Since I have been over
here it is all fine. Sorry I don’t answer your questions in the future promise to do better that is unless
you get personal (problems of what I do.) I could story I recon [sic]. You had better be careful yourself if
Soldiers are still chasing you for I know what they are after. I wouldn’t be supprised [sic] if I had to shoot
you for the same reason you want to shoot me. So there. Still kissing Bob Hund huh? Well now I’m
jealous remember you could have had him. Did he ever have you? Yes I agree Raymond is lucky but I

doubt if he thinks he is and that [page 3] is the same way I would feel if I should lose you. I want to be
free but not enough to give you up. I love those methods myself. Did I ever tell you I love you a whole
lot? I would like to take you in my arms and kiss your ____ till you ran me off. So you feel okay? good as
for me I’m much lonesome for you. About time to catch the bus for the Klapdor Hotel
