Dearest Darling
Right now I am the loneliest guy in the world so I am just going to write you and tell you my
troubles. Believe me I have them. Angel I miss you more every day I don’t think I would ever get used
to being away from you. Naturally I have my favorite picture out looking at it. Just guess what I would
like to do every time I see it. I am much passionate most of the time but I doubt if it bothers old coldnatured you. “I love you so much it hurts me.” That reminds me of a song I know. Speaking of music
they have 2 or 3 stations set up over here so that the G.I.’s can have some American music. Last night I
heard a half hour of the “Grand Ole Opry” only trouble is it makes you lonelier for the good old USA. I
think this is going to be the longest 16 months of my life. I cleaned up yesterday afternoon and walked
all over town looking for a music shop finally found one I think I could get a fair guitar for $10 or $15
now I don’t [page 2] know whether it would be better to have you all to ship me one or just buy it over
here. What do you think? I have just finished chow after a short nap so I will get this in the mail box.
Tomorrow I report to Lt [Lieutenant] Hughes at 8 oclock [sic] I do not know when I will start to school. I
wish you were here as I have a big wash on hand. You would do it huh? I would kiss you many many
times also I would bad word censored you many times. Is that payment enough? So Ferb guessed who
sent the valentine? Yes I am really mad at you for sending that blonde to Gene (not really tho [sic] for I
am glad that you are jealous). You are aren’t you? I have never got that roll of film developed but I
intend to next week sometime. Don’t you forget to send me those pictures of you I requested plus any
more good ones you might take this summer. So Frank and Helen are expecting I bet I knew it a long
time before you did, wanta bet? What kind of weather have you been having [page 3] at home? So far
over here it has been pretty nice. Today was a beautiful one so far I haven’t been out yet. Soon as I
finish this letter I am going to the show. I think you have seen it. It’s about a cat that inherited a lot of
money. No I didn’t get to see Sailor Beware I was going to in New York only it cost $2.80 which is to
much money. Darling I want you to send me $20 money order or some good way. If you don’t have it
to spare get it from Dad. I am going to run out before the month is over. I didn’t get paid but $20 this
month because of moving around so much. I intend to send it back soon as possible because it isn’t
going to take much dinero after I once get settled. Are you still having trouble with your stomach
mama? I hope you are feeling fine again. I suppose you have been working hard? Still on that staple
job? Remember don’t you work if it hurts you [page 4] to much. I want a healthy wife (not fat) when I
return home. Only 16 mo [months] 29 days left. I tasted some of the Beir [beer] over here it is really
potent generally 14 to 18 percent one bottle will make you tipsy as it holds about 16 fluid ozs. Well
honey I think I will sign off for now and play a fellows borrowed guitar as it is an hour before show time.
