My “Darling Wife”
It may be just a few days to soon but I might as well start getting used to it. I don’t know what
you think about it, as for me it sounds pretty nice. Probally [sic] I will hear how everything is coming
along about the time you receive this letter. I hope you haven’t had to much trouble getting things lined
out. Isn’t it a beastly thought only 5 more days and I will be helpselly [helplessly] tied up. I think you
should jilt me, don’t you? I received a card and letter from you tonight in the letter you said you
wouldn’t marry me so I am saved. We made it back just fine Mon [Monday] morn [morning] got here at
3 o’clock I didn’t drive a bit after I got down to Hauk I liked to not stayed awake that long. While I am
thinking about it call Mom and tell her we made it back fine and that I am too lazy to write. As if she
[page 2] didn’t know it already. We had some Platoon tactics this morning, map reading this eve
[evening] and for the next three days we are suppose to build some ___ guess what. Fri [Friday] I am
supposed to give a pint of blood so the coming weekend I won’t be worth a ~~~. I am going to see the
C.O. [commanding officer] tomorrow and try to get off Fri [Friday] eve [evening]. I have great hopes
that I will. Well “Angel” I hope this finds everything in good order hoping to see you Fri [Friday] night. I
love you much
