Dearest Aggie
Well believe it or not I finally got that long looked for letter today. I had better start getting
more letters or there is going to be war. To be really truthful the last letter I got was last Fri [Friday] till
Thurs [Thursday], that is to[o] darn long although I did get some real nice birthday cards. Yes it would
be swell to get the Leavenworth Times but I imagine it would cost quite a bit to send it as well as a lot
trouble for you. I guess I might as well give up trying to get Francis’s address even thou [sic] I have tried
to every [sic] since I first came into the Army which is going on 4 weeks. Mary K sent a letter today but it
was not in it either. I suppose your dear friend Miss Stratemeyer is still going to school? Sometimes I
wonder the way you talk, as it seems she is usually home. Maybe she has learned all she needs to know.
Angel you said you didn’t know wether [sic] or not I wanted you to put on the ring in that letter if you
still happen to have it just read it once more I thought I stated it quite clearly what I would like for you
to do. [page 2] Since you didn’t have it on Sunday it made me feel like you didn’t want to wear it while I
was gone, and you ought to know by now that it is hard for me to beg anyone. I haven’t changed my
mind either as you said in your letter I’ll just wait till I come home and try you another time. I cain’t
hardly blame you thou [sic] because of the way I acted the last time. Things have changed since then as
you ought to know by now. I have never got a letter from Bob yet. From what Mary K said it sounds like
the singing of the gang has blown up I was sorry to hear that too. That part in your letter about me not
letting you go with boys is quite right I will personally beat your head in if I should hear about it. On
those love experiences I have never complained have I? If you love just me than why should you worry,
it never hurts to learn more I suppose but don’t practice on some other joker. Tomorrow is going to be
my first job on K.P [kitchen patrol] since I came in this blasted Army from what the boys say it is pretty
rough [page 3] too. 3:30 am till around 8 pm. what a day that will be. Wed [Wednesday] was a hard day
too 2 hikes and a lot of Physical training boy was I tired. Next week we go out on the rifle range that
thought is killing my soul. The chow here is rugged sometimes fairly good but they never give you
enough. The fudge Mary K gave me helped a lot in between meals I finished it today but received some
more candy from her this eve, boy is it ever good to. I have to watch myself to keep from eating it all as
well as giving it to the beggars anything you get the guys go hog wild over. Well darling I had better
close and write mom. Have fun and dance one just for me Sat [Saturday] nite don’t forget
All my love
Jr Tinder
P.S. I suppose by now you have the pictures on the road, if not don’t forget them. Bye
Tell all the folks a great big Hello
See you soon
