Very cold went to Dansville
stoped [sic] to Johns a little while when
we went Samantha took 117 lbs
of dried apples and sold them
to Mr Rice for six cts [cents] per lb
we stoped [sic] to Marthas I settled
with J B Dakin gave him my note
We stoped [sic] a Johns 2 hours when we
came home
Cold Started early for Johns to go
with them up to Mr Holdens a
visiting We went up to Mary Grays
and stoped [sic] a little to warm and to
wait for Thomas Whipple Mary was
looking for some clover thrashers They
came to dinner after dinner Mary and
Samantha came up to Mr Holdens had
[written sideways in margin]: a good visit

December, Thursday 29
Very cold and blustering it snowed
a part of the day very hard We
did not go to meeting to day [sic] on
account of the storm Samantha is
thirty seven years old to day [sic]
this
is the last Sunday of this year
and we know not that we shall
live to see the close of another year
Moderate I worked around the
house and boild [boiled] a kettle of
Pumpkins for the and done the
chores and cut wood and helped
take care of the baby in the even
ing [evening] Seth Swain and his wife
and Mrs Richmond came here
a visiting and we had a good visit

More modderate [sic] I worked in the house
and pointed up around the window
and in the back room and helped
take care of the children and choped [sic]
some wood and done the chores at
the barn One year ago to day [sic] I was
in Misouri [sic] and went to meeting
there with Allen and Will Parker and
Darwen Stewart we was late
December, Tuesday 27
Cold wind south west Went over
to Fitch burgh [sic] to get a few
things and to take the boys boots
to get them fixed but could not
get them done this week stoped [sic]
to George Bachelor to get him to
split me some rails and he is
going to make some for me
