July, Tuesday 19
Looks like rain worked in the
garden till the dew dried off and
then went to work in the wheat
a short time and then it commenced
rain we had a hard shower Andrew
went up to Johns in the afternoon it
cleared off so I went to work in the
wheat till night look so that it might
be fair
Pleasent [sic] went to cuting [sic] wheat with
the reaper cut five times around and
then went to binding bound that
up and then cut five more times around
and bound some and then drew in
two loads Mrs Smith and [Jennie?] and
Willie came down here to day [sic] and Nettie
Burrell and Emma Holt came to [sic]
July, Saturday 16
Pleasent [sic] went to work in the wheat
as soon as the dew was off it was
very warm put up fifty dosen [dozen]
We heard of the death of Della
Holt to night [sic] So our Friends
are going from us and soon we
all shall be gone and others will
take our places and we shall be for
-goten [forgotten]

Rained most all night did
not do any thing [sic] in the wheat
to day [sic] helped in the house
and worked in the garden it was
pleasent [sic] but the wind was south
Took down the bed in the bedroom
and scalded the bedstead and helped
[point?] up the room so that it could be
white washed

Rained last night worked in the
garden till it dried so that we
could work in the wheat till
supper and there came up a hard
storm it hailed and rained and
there was heavy thunder the hardest
we have had for a long time Mr
Bachelor had a horse killed by the
lightning Emma Holt went home before
the storm
