All researchers have encountered records that differ in spelling from the way the
individuals or their descendants ACTUALLY spell the names. Transcriptions are the true
copy of what was written in the record. That’s what most of the records on the
Transcribed Records site are. Because I often get requests to change the transcription to
an interpretation, I invite others to add the family spellings for records they’ve found
spelled differently than the family spelled the names.
Here are some which have been reported:
OSBURN FAMILY ON 1910 CHRISTIAN COUNTY CENSUS
I wanted to let you know that in the 1910 Census available on the CCG Website that the last
name OSBURN is misspelled in some cases.
The following individuals should all fall under the spelling of OSBURN: Ryley, Minurva,
Children: Claud, Ollie, Cordia. Atlas (1 s in spelling, not 2), wife Mary,
Children: Dewey, Ota B., Edna M., Henry, John, Thomas, Clara, John. Leviga, Children: Myrtle.
If you can please update the spelling. A majority of my Grandmothers family who are Osburn's
are buried in the Monger Cemetery. I have made four visits to the Cemetery and the spelling for
all family members are OBSURN.
