Toot, Isaac
Biographical History
Isaac Toot was born June 25, 1838 in Jefferson County, Ohio. At the age of 23, he enlisted as a Private
into the E Company of the 52nd Ohio Infantry on August 11, 1862. Toot mustered out of the 52nd
Infantry on June 12, 1865 in Columbus, Ohio. Toot moved to Platte County, Missouri after his Civil War
service and became a farmer. He married Martha Evaline Norris on September 19, 1867 in Platte
County. They had three children and the family lived in the area around Weston, Missouri. Isaac Toot
died at the age of 42 on October 10, 1880 in Camden Point, Missouri.

included are a transcription of the diary, family chart for Martha Magdalene Toot, letters, and
background history on Isaac Toot. The majority of this collection is from 1862-1865. The background
history was obtained August 2012.
