Biographical History
The Independence Plan for Neighborhood Council was established in 1971 in Independence, MO.
According to the organization’s website, “We are an organization whose purpose is to promote
neighborliness, citizen participation and community development through communication, cooperation,
education, organization, recognition, programs and projects in each Neighborhood and/or on a citywide
basis.” Chapel Neighborhood is one of 42 neighborhood councils within the city of Independence.

Scope and Content
This collection includes newsletters and miscellaneous information from the Chapel Neighborhood #20
Council. The newsletters contain neighborhood information, upcoming events, future meetings dates,
and as well as community information. Also contained within this collection is a map of all
