Biographical History
Betty Rodgers was born on January 24, 1917 in West Plains, Missouri to Rea S Rodgers and Jennie
Brown. The Rodgers family came from Ohio. Her great grandfather, Sanderson H. Rodgers, fought in the
Civil War with the 102nd Illinois Infantry. The family settled in Cass County, Missouri and lived for a
while in Syracuse, Kansas where Betty’s grandfather, Robert Rodgers, served as the postmaster. Later
the family moved to Howell County, Missouri where the family had a farm.

This collection contains genealogical charts and research relating to the Rodgers and allied families.
Many of the items are photocopies of correspondence, photos, vital records, and other genealogical
research. One original photo taken inside the post office at Syracuse, Kansas shows Robert and Rea
Rodgers soring mail. The family lived in Ohio, Illinois, Kansas and Missouri.
