Palmer Mai
Biographical History
John Mai, the son of Henry Mai and Mary Deitz, was born on August 10, 1872 in Kratzka, Russia, a
German colony in Russia. His wife, Amelia, was the daughter of Jacob Schlager and Elizabeth Broach. She
was born August 25, 1880 in the Merkel, Russia. The couple married in 1899, their first of twelve
children was born in Russia in 1900, and immigrated to the United States in 1901.The family landed in
Galveston, Texas, lived in several towns in Kansas, Colorado, Montana, and Idaho before settling in
Burley, Idaho.
