This collection consists of the family Bible for the John R. Harding family. This Bible contains the family records for births, marriages, and deaths for John, his wife Mary and their descendants. Also included in this collection is a pedigree chart, and family records that list names and dates of ancestors from as early as the 1600s. Dates were recorded in the family bible as late as the 1950s. The names and dates were written at different times and in various handwriting.

Harding, John Roundy
Biographical History
John Roundy Harding was born October 18, 1832 at Charlestown, Maine and died at Grover, South
Dakota on June 21, 1919. His wife Mary Maycumber/Macomber (Sturtevant) Cordell was born August
27, 1830 and died December 17, 1916. The family bible lists their marriage as May 1856, but the
marriage index lists the date as June 26, 1856. The couple had three children and lived in Illinois before
moving to South Dakota where John had a jewelry business.
