Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
Apr [April] 27, 1953
Mon [Monday] Morn [morning]
8:20 AM.
Hi “Honey”
Here comes another one of my weekly notes am happy to say I don’t believe I will be writing
very many more. This month is just about finished and when the next one is over my time here will be
as good as past. Had a pretty easy time of it last week except for Tue [Tuesday]. I really worked that
day unpacking I was tired and my legs sure did get sore they just about gave out on me. Looks like I will
have to break in slow once I go to work again. We played 2 softball games Thur [Thursday] one in the
afternoon and one in the evening lost them both but I had quite a bit of fun. Played Bingo that night
also last night won 60 marks {$15} had to split with some Sgt [Sargent] looks like I cain’t win by myself.
Took in the show Sat [Saturday] nite intend to go again today also bowled Sat [Saturday] afternoon
didn’t do so hot thou [sic] out of practice from the long lay-off. Enough of what I do as it is the same
thing over and over. How is [page 2] my gal and boy? I recon [sic] the little tyke is getting meaner and
fatter everyday. From the looks of the last pictures you sent he looks fat as a butter ball. I will send the
other pic’s [pictures] back if the envelope is large enough if not you wouldn’t mind waiting about 2 ½
months would you?
What do you mean am I still being true to you? One woman is more than I can handle don’t
know what I would do with anymore. I never worry about you because I trust you I can only hope you
trust me to. Glad to hear you only weigh 136 heck you must be getting skinny again. I love you no
matter how much you weigh am just waiting till we are together again. Course I just want my wife to
look good isn’t nothing wrong with that is there. I don’t weigh a bit more than when I left in fact I am
having a hard time keeping what weight I do have looks like I just cain’t pick up any. So Frank is taking a
furlough in June huh? I sure wish he would put it off till the middle of July as I would [page 3] like to see
the old boy for a few days even if the rascal never did answer my last letter. I suppose he was to lazy to
write about like myself. Rosetta and Jack don’t seem to well satisfied I hope you and I never have silly
arguments like that naturally everyone has a little trouble thou [sic]. I bet Lorene is proud of that auto. I
know I was of my first one seems odd to me for a girl to have a car. I recon Jr and Doris are coming
along fine? All of us old married folks will have to get together when I get home. Yep I would like to see
Alva again myself we sure used to have a time in the old days. Honey I am out of news so think I will
sign off for this time. Hope all are okay and tell all hello
All my love always
Jr Tinder
P.S. I have a holiday Fri [Friday] and Sat [Saturday] my 17 day leave starts. So after 3 more days I intend
to do nothing more in P&C [packing & crating] (just Practically a civilian. Bye bye
