Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
Mon [Monday] Morn [morning]
12 Jan [January] 52 [1953]
Here 8: AM
There 1: AM
Hi “Skinny”
I have a job to do this morn [morning] but I recon [sic] I can scribe a little till the truck comes
then finish this later. You may just be getting in I have allready [sic] been up for 2 hrs [hours] isn’t it odd
how different the time is? I have been having it pretty easy but work is beginning to pick up now that
the hollidays [sic] are past. I haven’t did much in the past wk [week] took in a few shows and Fri [Friday]
nite we bowled again. Lost 2 won 1 game I had a good first game (201) but the other 2 weren’t so good
(134-141) hope I do better this coming Fri [Friday]. I suppose you have been busy as usual? What would
you have done if you had twins? Speaking of kids how is our Kenny. Probally [sic] has your temper,
don’t you think he should learn to be like his Dad? [page 2] He ought to be a pretty good sized boy by
the time I get home. Believe me am I glad when each wk [week] goes by more so when it is a month.
Anyway it won’t be much longer till you will have to put up with me again. I must say I was glad to hear
you are down to 136 that is a good sign you may be the same gal I left what seems to be so long ago.
Well I must say you got quite a raise lately, I don’t know when it will start but you are now going
to draw $137.10 are you going to send me $50 each month so I can honky-tonk? I have been thinking
on taking a short furlough but I may save my money and buy a tape-recorder they cost $134 back in the
States well over $200 I don’t think I should spend our money that way but might as well do it instead of
spending it on a leave. I hardly received any [page 3] mail from you this past wk [week] 1 letter to be
exact. So quit telling me how much you write as I know better. I recon [sic] you are having some real
winter weather back there now? It is pretty chilly here but not to bad. I wouldn’t be supprised
[surprised] if the most of our real cold weather hasn’t allready [sic] past. Volpe is due back off of
furlough about Wed [Wednesday] and he doesn’t get to go home till Feb [February] 20 I know he will be
mad as a wet hen. The fellas in P & C [packing & crating] really are cards they fixed me up a bed in an
overseas box and call it “Hotel Excelsor” still I can take a little kidding as it sleeps pretty good but it isn’t
quite long enough. Well hon [honey] I am out of anything to say so might as well close this will let you
know I am still up and kicking. Take care of yourself and Kenny and tell all I [page 4] said hello.
Loads of Love
Jr Tinder
P.S. I think I have sleeping sickness I sleep a lot but am still sleepy. Right now I am about to go to sleep
writing.
P.S.S. Do we have a set of dishes?
