Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
Oct [October] 6, 1952
Mon [Monday] Eve [evening] 1 PM
Hi Mama
I guess by now it has happened or at least by the time you get this letter. I hope it wasn’t to
hard on you and that everything is okay. By the way does our offspring look to awful? (If it is mine???)
Just kidding Angel as I suppose it is. No you happen to have it backwards I will love you much more if we
don’t have anymore kids for a long time, I would like to have waited till we were around 30. Of course I
hate for you to take things to keep from having babies as I am afraid it will harm your health so you can
see what happen when we take chances. I think it is wonderful but I sure don’t [page 2] want a youngen
[sic] every year. If I remember right I am sure I saw Doris down at you house one time tell her if she is
still there I said hello, also the rest of the folks. So I didn’t say which way I felt? You didn’t ask me I ask
you whats [sic] the matter afraid to answer? In that case I know which way you feel. As for me I think it
works both ways depending on what kind of mood you are in. Now for the trip I shall try to tell you
about it. We got there at 12:20 on Sat [Saturday] nite first we got us a room then we cut out went to
some square.
Started walking around and believe me I got the supprise [surprise] of my life there were
beautiful dames all over the place wanting you to sleep with them for so many guilders (around 25)
[page 3] Naturlay [sic] I didn’t, everything else was closed so we went back and went to bed. Slept to
noon the next day then took off walking looking for the Old Nickel café finally caught a cab before we
found it ate dinner there then took off again. Walked in a place to get a beer 3 not just good looking but
pretty dames came over wanting us to buy them a drink 2 of them set down to the table with Boat and
Bill after a few beers we took off again messed around the rest of the day in a hotel bar. I tell you I
cain’t get over how pretty those Holland women are. Next day we took off sight seeing got lost after we
walked many miles it is sure a nice clean town finally had to catch a cab to find the square. Ate at the 3
Musketeers café then we went [page 4] over to the hotel bar again stayed there for the rest of the day
later that night Bill took off with a gal then a little later Boat left with one I walked around a bit then
went to the hotel and went to bed. The next evening we left and went to buy some shirts got them then
went to a beer joint and played billiards for awhile [sic] after that back to the hotel cleaned up and cut
out to the Wynvat hotel bar. (I was getting ahead of myself). We left there and went to Canal street
were [where] I got another surprise. There were all kinds of women sitting in windows standing on
steps wanting you to come in with them. We walked up and down the streets just to see what they
looked like (there were some darn nice ones to). Here I got separated from the boys [page 5] once
more, got lost and finally had to go to a police station I got them to call me a cab. The next eve
[evening] we went back to the Wynvat. At one time Boat had 4 women on the string (that is how thick
they were) he left with one and I don’t know were [where] Bill went I caught a cab for the hotel. The
last day we went spot seeing bought the wooden shoes and caught the train for B.K. [Bad Kreuznach
Germany ]. Now my Darling that is what I meant when I said I didn’t desire other women cause if I had
of I could got all I wanted. Not that Amsterdam is awful I think it is nice, but I sure was supprised
[surprised] at the women. Now for the night I stayed out Boat, Brady, and myself cut out got pretty
looped up so we just stayed out allnight [sic]. But I can still brag because thru all this whether or not you
[page 6] believe me I was still true to you. I didn’t write it before as I figured you might get all worked
up imagining things that are not true. Boy this old weather has sure turned of cool how it is back home
now. Went to a show over the weekend but slept most of the time. Tonight I think I will practice
basketball then tomorrow night go see a show (A Place in the Sun). How long has it been since that was
showing in the states remember? We had quite a Hillbilly Gasthaus last night sure do enjoy playing with
Smokey. Honey there are no news just hope you are fine write when you can.
Love as always
