Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
July 1, 1952
Tue [Tuesday] Morn [morning] 8:30
Hi Honey
Even thou [sic] I am tired and sleepy I will try to write a few lines. Boy there sure has been a
change in the weather these last 4 days. It is nice and warm yes [yesterday] was the hottest as it got up
to around 95 deg [degrees], I like it this way okay thou [sic]. I have been going out the last 5 nights
haven’t been doing much but I sure need to catch up on a little sleep. Never won anything in bingo last
Thur [Thursday] got real close only close don’t count. Sat [Saturday] nite they had a state side show
over at the club, it was pretty good one old boy was sure funny. I haven’t been to a show for about a
week as I have seen the ones that are playing. Seeing as how I couldn’t go to the Kino (show) I rut [sic]
out with [page 2] a boy and got drunk Sun [Sunday], what do you think of your Husband now? As
miserable as it is over here I should stay drunk all the time. I haven’t been with you for 5 mo’s [months]
sure would like to sleep with you again (that would take care of everything). I could cry thinking of all I
am missing for 18 months only I don’t suppose it would do any good. I recon [sic] youre [sic] fat and
ugly only I could stay out till after dark then I couldn’t see your face and wouldn’t know you were fat till I
started feeling of you. Isn’t that right? Then after I got kinda hot I wouldn’t care either way. Do you still
love me many bushels? [page 3] So you saw my old girlfriends huh? How is Gene still cute as ever? She
is sure quite a tomboy but that don’t hurt women makes them more exciting. I am only trying to make
you jealous is it working? (answer please) It sounded like in your last letter you never had to go on the
diet, that is good, hope you are still feeling okay. I have decided on not having 64 children I wouldn’t
know what to name all of them. Of course I suppose I could let the mothers hang a handle on them.
Speaking of names I still like Janice Marie Tinder for a girl. What do you think of Carl for a [page 4] boys
first name? Tomorrow we start moving oh how I hate to don’t have much choice thou [sic]. One thing
good we don’t have any training for 3 wks [weeks] although there is a big inspection coming up the 17th.
Yesterday was payday got $60 better than I thought. Do your checks run the same and what part of the
month do they arrive? I can cut out and have a big time not that I have a little dough. Bet you wish you
were me with all the (Frauline’s [sic]) around. I got my pictures back that I took on the boat trip some
were good others had a black place on them don’t know what happened will send some to you. Angel I
will close this letter saying I think you are wonderful to put up with me. Love Jr Tinder
[page 4]
P.S. Tell the Folks hello for me. Take care of yourself.
P.S.S. How come the half page? Write something you didn’t want me to read? Maybe for a divorce who
knows.
P.S.S.S. The pictures are of things on the banks of the Rhine, boasts, castles, villages, and what have you.
