Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
Wed [Wednesday] Eve [evening] 1:15 PM
June 11, 1952
Hello “Old Bag”
It has been 3 or 4 days since I have written so I had better scribble a note. I got 4 letters today 2
from you, 1 Mary K, 1 Mom, I will answer theirs later. I am spending another hard day at the office. I
suppose now I will have to go to work because they just “canned” the supervisor. I may have to take the
job so now I don’t know whether I will go to school or not. We haven’t played ball lately so I have been
catching up on the shows again ever so often they have a good one like last night, “Bannerline” it was
real good. Tonight I am going to a 3 act play hope it is good also. I don’t have a car as you know if I did,
o’boy the women would really flock around then. Why don’t you send me some money [page 2] so I can
get one? So you think you want some more pictures of me huh? Well I have some real killer dillers.
They will stop all this balhoney [sic] about me being handsome as they look just like me. I wasn’t going
to send them except I just cain’t resist you seeing me with my new hair-do. Boy if I don’t look like a
peeled onion I’ll kiss your ___ (lips). Believe me that is what I would like to do (kiss you) naturally that
isn’t all but it would sure be a good start. It also seems to me like I have been gone 4 years. I am still
counting the minutes till I get back. Quit worrying I will stay home with you for 3 or 4 wks [weeks]
before I start running around. As for the dancing if ever I get some place were [where] I can dance again
I shall struggle till I am completely played out. I am going to [page 3] buy me a club card maybe I can
dance every once in a while. You can also get some pretty good things to eat over there. You are
getting to be quite a fish-woman. I never have any luck anymore as they don’t seem to want to bite for
me. I was just talking about getting with a band I doubt if I will ever be good enough to actually play on
one. As well as I like to dance (with beautiful women of course) I wouldn’t last very long anyhow. The
Germans have a holiday tomorrow so I will probally [sic] be off to (isn’t that nice) I think I will go to
Bingen [Bingen am Rhein, Germany] with Bob and take some pictures of the Rhine River. There are sure
a lot of boats in it. The Det [Detachment] is having their party week from Sun [Sunday]. I hope I am in
school by then. In 2 or 3 wks [weeks] we are moving our [page 4] office out to the new building hope it
is as nice as it is here. Since the fire Dept [Department] moved out it has been swell. So you are
learning to cook things I like? That is swell if you continue to do things like that you are going to hook
me yet. As for my birthday just bundle yourself up and come on over of course leave Junior home
please as I never did like bawling babies. I suppose I will get used to it thou [sic] after about the 5th one.
Well Honey this is were [where] I sign off, haft [sic] to practice ball. I love you (really I do)
Jr Tinder
P.S. I will send you a picture of some of my women one of these days.
P.S.S. Tell all “hello”
Bye
