Biographical History
Selma Schuenemeyer was born on May 3, 1924 in Syracuse, Nebraska. She married Ivon Denniston in
St. Louis, Missouri in 1948. Selma was part of the extended Schuenemeyer family, who settled in the
Woollam, Missouri area in Gasconade County. While she and Ivon eventually settled in Texas, Selma
retained a keen interest in family and genealogy, regularly visiting her Missouri cousins and searching
for abandoned cemeteries containing family resting places. She and Ivon took an interest in traveling,
and their journeys are well documented. They had one daughter, Diane (known as Dee) in 1952. The
chronology of the collection ends not long after Dee’s wedding in 1982, so it is likely Selma left this
collection of family history to Dee when she began her own family.
