Biographical History
Alfred Megrail was born in Jefferson County, Ohio on January 9, 1824 to James W. Megrail and Mary
Earnshaw. He married his wife, Amy Hammond, on September 2, 1847 in Wayne Township, Ohio. After
Amy’s death on April 7, 1854, Alfred married Rebecca Gilbert on December 4, 1857. Between his two
marriages, Alfred had three children, Mary, George, and Amy. Alfred Megrail passed away on December
14, 1862 in Bloomingdale, Ohio.
