Administrative History
The Daily News was published in Independence, MO from 1954 to 1963. It was a daily newspaper except
Saturdays. The publisher was Craig Siegfried and covered the Independence area.
Rosecrans Flyer was a newspaper for the service people stationed at Camp Petree during World War II.
Camp Petree was an Army camp at Rosecrans Field in St. Joseph, MO in 1942. The camp was in use until
1945 when it was dismantled. The Rosecrans Flyer was published every other Friday with the assistance
of The St. Joseph News-Press and Gazette. It discussed events and other items of importance happening
in the camp as well as in St. Joseph.
Sweet Springs Herald is published in Sweet Spring, MO. The newspaper started publication in 1887 and
is still in operation today as a weekly newspaper.
Baker Orange is the student newspaper from Baker University, located in Baldwin City, KS. It reports on
student activities, events, sports, and social life.
The Northeast News was established as an independent voice of Northeast Kansas City in 1932. In the
early years, the newspaper reported community news. During the 1980s and 1990s, it became a local
shopper circular but in the late 1990s focused again on community news.
The Northeast Shopper was newspaper owned and published by Howard E. Hill containing community
news for Northeast Kansas City, Missouri.
The Confederate is a student newspaper from South High School, located in Denver, CO. It reports on
student activities, events, and sports.
Young America The National News Weekly for Youth was published by the Educational Division of Eton
Publishing Corporation in New York, New York.

centennial of the United States.
