Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
June 2, 1952
Mon [Monday] Morn [morning] 8 AM
Dearest Wife
Seeing as how I didn’t get you a note off over the weekend I had better take some of my “not to
valuable time”, to scratch a few words. This weather has sure been messed up over in this part of the
world. Every day it either rains or just misses it. I would sure like to be were [where] I was 4 months
ago today, (that would be in bed with you right now) if I felt like I do most of the time over here we
wouldn’t be sleeping either. 18 months being a good boy is sure going to be harder than you think.
Cain’t I be bad huh? It wouldn’t be so bad being away from you then. I know your answer right now
anyway. I was only kidding even thou [sic] it would never hurt anything if I did as it doesn’t show on a
man the way it does on a woman. So you believe it is about time I make up my mind if I love you or not?
Well I have came to a decision bad as I hate to say it I do not love you [page 2] that is why I married you.
Doesn’t sound logical to you? Really I wish I had married you 3 yrs [years] ago or is that before I met
you? I cain’t seem to remember. So Nida is expecting already, the old Sarge must be a fast worker like
me or maybe a little faster? Doggone my suspicious mind people I know thought the same about us
only I am pretty sure we have a supprise [surprise] in store for them. So you are starving yourself to
keep from going on a skim-milk diet? Don’t blame you I would to. I’ll still bet you go way over whatever
you are supposed to weight as it is your nature to be fat (Don’t hit me I didn’t really mean it) I had a day
off last Fri [Friday] that is the day my box arrived with my music. We bought 3 cases of American beer
and had quite a time, first time I have that stewed since you, me, Helen, and Frank went out that night.
Woe is me never again. Sat [Saturday] was payday I got $122 sure don’t know how I *page 3+ come to
get that much. You say you are out of spending money. I have around 1150 hundred in the bank at
Wells also I am sending another hundred home so anytime you need anything just see mom or Dad they
can get it for you. Heck I’ll just send you $25 that will help a little won’t it. I need very little I can get by
on what the boys owe me. I know I was broke when I married you and after some bad luck was broker
but you don’t have to be so tight since we sold the old wreck if you want something get it. Before long
you will have to buy a baby bed along with a lot of other baby things only don’t buy any other house
furniture till I get back. Children are okay only I wish we had been more careful till later on. It would
have been a lot easier on you I think? A whole lot better for me to. Look at all the [page 4] pleasure I
have missed. I will tell you right now you might a[s] well get prepared for another youngen [sic]. 2 are
as easy to raise as one isn’t that right? Yesterday I took some pictures will probally [sic] send you them
next week. They are only pictures of me and my room mates I should go out and take a lot of pictures of
the country only I am to lazy. By the way no [number] 14 finally caught up to me the one were
[where]you mentioned about me being good-looking. What has come over you all mom wrote some of
the same. I know one thing I sure haven’t improved since I left home and I sure would not of taken a
beauty contest then. Just wait till you see these next ones then I may believe you I just bet they will be
dandy. So now you are bragging on your breasts who played with them? that is probally [sic] why they
we’re [were] so larger when you were 12. Yes Angel I was sure worried whether I had you or [page 5]
not. In fact I am still worried who knows you may want a divorce yet. I am supprised [surprised] you
didn’t back out the day we tied the knot. I sure would of hated it. Today is a German holiday I don’t
have to put in my time. I am over here at the office anyhow as I wanted to write you and the folks a
note. I went to the show yesterday eve [evening] “Silver City.” I had allready [sic] seen it perhaps you
remember. I got a letter form Wilford Kisker he has his wife here with him if you weren’t going to have
a baby I think we could have arranged it. I may go see him when I go to school as he is only 30 miles
from there. I shall close for now tell all hello for me and take care of yourself. I miss you terribly
All my Love
