Dearest Darling
Betcha cain’t guess were [where] I am at? Made it just fine had to change trains 2 times. At St
Louis and Trenton New Jersey that bag got pretty heavy packing if a round to. Got to Kilmer at 5:30 this
eve [evening] wish I had never got here to be truthful. It is a dump bout like Ft Wood and they say the
details really fly around here. Got awful tired traveling on the trains the one from St Louis to Trenton
was really rough. I slept a little bit last night thou [sic]. Darling believe me I am really homesick already I
miss you plenty. I imagine after I have been away for a while I will get used to it. Believe me when I hit
New Burnswick [Brunswick] I was ready to turn around and go right back home. I hate this Army worse
every day from what I hear we will be here about 2 wks [weeks]. Some guys have been here over a
month so you never can tell I [page 2] suppose since I have to go the sooner the better. Saw one fella I
knew he came over to my barricks [sic] and we moaned awhile together. He is married also. I trust you
will call mom and them tell them I made it fine I will write them later as I am tired. Angel tell your folks
hello for me. Hope you had a good time Sat [Saturday] night mine was beastly. I think you are the most
wonderful wife in the world even if I am mean I love you lots. I am pretty tired and have to get up at
five so think I will hit the sack. Bye for now
Your husband
