Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
Nov [November] 24, 1951
Sat [Saturday] 9:40
Dearest Wife
How bees [sic] the sweetest gal in the whole world? Right not I am laying on my bunk relaxing
but not for long we are going to eat at 10:30 then I hope to start moving. Don’t think we will get a pass
this weekend so I guess I will just have to wait till next. Maybe getting to see you Thur [Thursday] won’t
make this weekend as bad as last. I suppose I will go to a show or 2 even if they do make me lonesome
for you. I hope by now everything is okay on the home front, (you know what I mean I suppose). Boy
am I glad this basic training is over if only this school is a good deal. I doubt if there is any good deal
around this place thou [sic]. There is a fella here that has his wife here also. If we were a little better off
I would bring you down and you could stay with her it only costs $20 a month which isn’t bad. Well here
I am back from show so will write a few more lines. I have got this letter started but don’t know when I
will get it finished. Believe it or not I ate many onions at dinner as they had them in everything. I guess
you stayed for the big supper Thur [Thursday]? Wish I hadn’t had to [page 2] come back so early I didn’t
do anything yesterday anyhow. Would of liked to hear Uncle Hoop play the fiddle also see all of them. I
bet you want as a big a family as they have don’t you? Only 13 unless I have lost track. Well I will write
you a few lines again I am now in my new home which may or may not be to good. I already know that
we get rifles that in itself is bad. Just finished making my bunk and am waiting for the platoon Sargent
to line us up. We also have K.P. [kitchen patrol] plus guard duty every 4 days.
You told me to send you this half finished letter so I will
Love and kisses Jr
