Guy Lee Tinder, Jr. correspondence
Sept [September] 11, 1951
Tue [Tuesday] Eve [evening] 8:30 PM
Hello Agnes
How’s my gal making out this week. Fine and dandy I hope. As for myself fair, or about a good
as could be expected. Just received your wonderful letter so will answer right back. We got off early
today so I have everything about rounded up except for shaving, shower, and shining shoes. I didn’t
look for any letters today was really glad to have gotten one. Darling I am getting that marrying fever
again I only hope it lasts long enough this time because I know I love you enough to really be happy if we
all tied up. Honestly I want to get married but when it really comes down to the fact I haven’t got the
courage. I suppose that may sound silly to you but it is the truth. I must admit I was disappointed in you
this past weekend. Although there have been a lot of times when I was much worse so I didn’t get mad
like I usually would have. I love you much more when you are not acting that way. I have told you many
times that no girl could ever take your place. Someday maybe you will believe me. Real soon I hope.
[page 2] I don’t suppose that I will get a pass this weekend, I am really looking forward to the next one
thou [sic]. Some say we leave next Sun [Sunday] eve [evening] at 2 to go on bouviac [bivouac], some say
not till Mon [Monday] so I don’t know when it will be. I only hope it is dry that week. Just 2 more weeks
after this one then maybe this old Army life will be a little easier. We didn’t have a bit of trouble coming
back got here around 10:00 and only drove between 50-55 also stopped in Waynesville for about half
hour bought me a few things at the Army store then came on in to camp. Tell the folks hello for me. I
suppose Calvin is having quite a bit of fun in football. It is hard to believe that school has started again.
Well Angel think I will close and write Mary K then hit the sack. Don’t do anything that I wouldn’t like
will write again this weekend. Love for now
Jr Tinder
