January, Saturday 8
Cold and blustering all
day Staid [stayed] at home all day
and done the chores in the
evening went to singing
school in the [evenin]
Reeves school house and
Samantha went up to there
John and Staid while we were there
Very cold and squly [squally?] all day
Mrs Toxen was down here
to day [sic] and Mr Toxen was
here in the afternoon I
went down into the woods
and cut a load of wood
and drew it up and cut
some of it to last over Sunday
January, Wednesday 5
January, Sunday 9, 1870
Pleasant and cold went up
to Mr Cranes a visiting and
when we came up there he
was gone up to Dansville Mrs
[Woodhouse?] and her daughters
came up there to we staid
a while in the evening
January, Thursday 6
Cold went up to Fathers after
Lina and staid [stayed] till after
dinner and Samantha went
up to Mr Toxens while I
was gone I killed a pig after
I came home and dressed it
to cook to take up to Brother
Holts We are going up there
a visiting to morrow [sic]
January, Friday 7
Clear and cold going to Dansville
to brother Holts a visiting and
Squares folks were going and
we were going with them
had a good visit and every
thing went of [sic] first rate it
commenced to snow before
we came home
