Name and folder indexes are available for some of MGC’s archival collections. Name indexes display first, maiden, middle, and last names as well as any notes that may help identify individuals. Folder indexes display the folder title and additional information.
This collection consists of two photographs from the Newton family. One photograph is of Robert “Bob” Newton and Lula Ingram. The second photograph is of Bob, Lula, and their son Gale S. Newton.
This collection contains photographs from the Little family. These photograph range from the 1920s to the 1980s. These consists of various Little generations and most photos have accompanying labels. Three photobooks are included with this collection that do not have any accompanying labels.
This collection contains photographs, personal effects, correspondence, and family history information on Price Levi Eldridge, Sr., Virginia Eldridge, and Price Levi Eldridge, Jr. as well as various Eldridge family members. The photographs cover Price Sr., his siblings, his parents, and other relatives. Price Sr.’s personal effects include club membership cards, identification cards, work badges, and more. Included in the family history are printed accounts of Eldridge history and Virginia Eldridge’s death certificate.
This collection consists of genealogy and photographs for Lloyd Clayton Hixson and other family members. The majority of the collection are photographs taken and collected by Lloyd Hixson. These photographs document various family members as well as his military service in the United States Navy. Also included is a photograph of his parents, Floyd T. Hixson and Julia L Littlejohn, on their wedding day. There is also a genealogy pedigree chart completed by Lloyd’s daughter, Gail.
This collection contains Lone Jack, Missouri history collected by Irene Spainhour. This collection was donated by the family to the Lone Jack branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library. Contained within the collection are scrapbooks, local histories, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and other ephemera. Also found within the collection are materials for genealogy research such as Jackson County, Missouri marriages and family stories from Lone Jack residents. These materials cover the settling of Lone Jack to current events. Many items within the collection pertain to local clubs and the Battle of Lone Jack.
This collection consists of the family Bible for the Tyler family. This Bible contains family records for births, marriages, and deaths for Tyler and related family members. Also included in this collection are the scanned family record pages.
This collection consists of the family Bible for the Samuel Lamar family. This Bible contains family records for births, marriages, and deaths for Samuel, his wife Judith Baldwin, and their children. The records also contain information on Samuel’s second wife, Eunice Coffin and their children. Also included in this collection are the scanned family record pages.
This collection consists of the family Bible for the H.P. Gum family. This Bible contains family records for births, marriages, and deaths for H.P., his wife Julia Welch, and their children. Also included in this collection are the scanned family record pages.
This collection contains the genealogical research of Lorraine A. Schambach. Most of the content’s focus is around the Schambach family, mostly from the early twentieth century. The collection also contains information about families related to the Schambach family. These include the Hodson, Branson, Ousley, Worley, and Burgess families. These families are either directly related to Lorraine Schambach or related by marriage. Along with documents there are items belonging to the ancestors of Lorraine Schambach. Most of these items are pictures, but some are larger personal items.
This collection contains the genealogical research of Julia Bess Slemons Riedel. Most of the content’s
focus is around Julia Slemons Riedel and her immediate family, the Gardner Family and the Slemons
Family. The collection also contains some information about the McCoy, Snodgrass, Harrison, Biggart,
Mark Ray, and Hartsfield families. These families are either directly related to Julia Slemons Riedel or
related by marriage. Most information in the records covers the history of the families and how they
are related to each other. Among the records are correspondence, family trees, and self-written family
histories.
This collection consists of genealogical information relating to the life of Harvey Merrick Vaile. Included within this collection are written family as well as oral history. Both the family and oral history were created by Harvey M. Vaile’s great Grandnephew Ernest Virgil Vaile, Jr. The oral history was originally created in 1997 and was saved on a VHS tape. Midwest Genealogy Center staff converted this VHS tape to a DVD. Both VHS and DVD can be accessed in this collection. In addition, there is a 3 ½ x 5 inch floppy disk that contains the electronic copy of the family history. The disk is unreadable.
The collection consists of documents and photographs of the Schuenemeyer family and extended relations. It is organized into 2 series. Series 1 contains documents pertaining to various members of the extended Schuenemeyer family. Included are some photographs of particular family members. The series is further divided into the following subseries, arranged by date. Series 2 largely consists of photographs of the collection’s creators, Ivon and Selma Denniston. There are also photographs pertaining to various members of the extended Schuenemeyer family and their activities. The series is further divided into the following subseries, arranged by date and then alphabetically.
This collection contains the personal papers, genealogy, and photographs of Vera Grandfield Fawbush. Some of the other surnames found within this collection include Adamson, Fowler, Fritze, Hull, Lalonde, Muma, Ott, Rush, and Watson. Also found within this collection are a Grandfield family history, scrapbooks, obituaries, and newspaper clippings. Vera’s daughter, Edythe Fawbush Haywood, also contributed to this collection. There are two oversize items, a photograph and newspaper edition.
This collection consists of two letters from the Jefferson County Genealogical Library addressed to Peter Wilson, one page of lined paper that lists the names and locations of genealogical research, four short correspondences from Alfred Megrail from various dates, and one journal of Alfred Megrail dated 1860. The items in this collection range from 1860 to 1984.
This collection consists of administrative papers, member rosters, newspaper clippings, photographs, photograph negatives, program flyers, concert advertisements, seven VHS tapes, and sixteen cassettes. Two oversize items are also included in this collection, 1 leather bound proclamation and 1 framed certificate of appreciation. The items range from 1986 to 2011 and covers information about the choir, personal information about specific members, and concert materials.
This collection consists of the family Bible for the John BUSHNER family. This Bible contains family records for births, marriages, and deaths for John, his wife Charlotte SCHWEITZER, and their children. The records also contain information on individuals with the following surnames: CLAY, SCHWEITZER, and TIPTON. Also included in this collection are the scanned family record pages, items found within the Bible, and a family unit chart.
This collection consists of the family Bible for the Benjamin Howland Smith family. This Bible contains family records for births, marriages, and deaths for Benjamin, his wife Silvia Slocum, and their children. The records also contain information on Benjamin’s second wife, Rebecca Kirby. Also included in this collection are the scanned family record pages, a pamphlet found in the Bible dated 1959, and a family unit chart.
This collection consists of the family Bible for the Isaac H. Pate and Robert Allen Turner families. This Bible contains family records for births, marriages, and deaths for multiple generations. Also included in this collection are family unit charts, handwritten genealogy, and a bookmark.
This collection contains the genealogy research from Paul P. Brinkman, Jr. These research is in the form of computer generated pedigree charts and family group records. In addition, there is an index to the research. All this work was completed in June 1994.
This collection consists of the genealogy research of Anna G. Ford. The genealogy research is comprised of vital records, charts, and family histories. Also included are correspondence and photographs of the Ford family. In addition to the research on the Ford family, many other surnames can be found within the genealogy research.
This collection consists of the family Bible for the Joseph Markee family. This Bible contains family records for births, marriages, and deaths Joseph, his wife Mary Jane Waite Markee, and their children. Also included in this collection is a family unit chart and a bookmark.
This collection contains the family history of Lowell Luttrell and allied families. Other surnames found within this collection include Vancil, Williams, Nash, Hodge, Huffman, Upshaw, Mears, and others. This family history contains photographs, letters, cards, and genealogical research. Also included are photographs and information relating to Denlow history located in Douglas County, Missouri.
This collection consists of items relating to the Sunflower Ordnance Works and then later the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant. Collected by Richard B. Stevens, the contents include personal correspondence and a scrapbook. Also included are the entire run of The Sunflower Sentinel, the weekly employee newspaper for the Sunflower Ordnance Works and some editions for the Sunflower Planet, newspaper for the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant. There is also one edition of the Lawrence [KS] Journal –World.
This collection contains various newspapers published in the United States. The newspapers found within this collection are original items and were published in the 20th century. Titles include the Daily News, Rosecrans Flyer, Sweet Springs Herald, Baker Orange, The Northeast News, and the Northeast Shopper.
While preparing to move to California, Eva Giles took some papers to her neighbor Carl Guertler in Ogden, Utah to be burned. He saw some old stamps and while looking through the papers, he noticed they had genealogical value. She gave permission for him to keep the papers and they were donated to the Genealogical Society of Utah. The papers were withdrawn from the library and eventually donated to the Midwest Genealogy Center. The papers include some items belonging to Eva’s father, Morgan Hinman and include an account book from 1866, a land patent in Utah, and a muster roll containing his name. Other documents include deeds, bonds, contracts, probate, and other records relating to her ancestors living in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Some of the early documents date back to the late 1700s and early 1800s.
